I won't say too much about this particular album, because in many ways I feel as though it's greatness speaks for itself. Sonically, this album uses a predominantly jazz-inspired production style, but it bends this style whenever it gets the chance in order to effictively craete a musical scene- because this albums is more akin to a musical movie. On GKMC Kendrick presents a story from his youth exploring themes of race, gang violence, peer pressure and so so much more with a clarity that I didn't even know was possible before listening to the album. All the tracks come together, although not in chronilogical, to present a story about how the things that screw up society are so deeply ingrained, that it becomes almost impossible for a child to even understand the scope of, much less escape these cycles of oppresion. I truly believe this is one of the most important works of art in human history (much like many peoms are!) so I hope you'll give it an earnest listen :)
If this was your vibe I'd reccomend checking out the rest of Kendricks discography, it really is filled with jems such as this one. Besides Kendrick, I'd reccomend checking out other concious hip-hop artists Outkast has several classics like ATLiens, and more recently Little Simz released Sometimes I Might Be Introvert (which almost made this webpage!) wich are both phenomenal albums in their own right. But for now, I reccomend checking out the final album in this guide Black Country, New Road's Ants From Up There
